Devotional #1: The Love of God

We love because He first loved us.  1 John 4:19 NIV

The love of God is a kind of love you will never find anywhere else. You can search the world for something similar, yet nothing will ever come close. His love is different, unique, natural, deep, profound, holy, pure, royal.

Sometimes when His love touches you, it feels like fire moving through your veins, filling your lungs, settling in your heart like an intense heartbeat that your chest tries to hold, only He can steady. It is a love that cannot be replaced, substituted, or matched.

This love awakens your emotions. It can make you cry, sing, you may feel the urge to worship, or whisper gratitude from a place you didn’t know existed. Sometimes, all those feelings rise together at once.
You may try to understand this love, why this it feels so strong, so deep:You might think, Of course, it’s normal, Jesus saved me. But inside, you know it is more than that. You love Him not only because of what He did, but because of who He is, the way He shows you love, the time He gives you, the countless times He forgives you.

You sin, yet He stays.
You offend Him, yet He loves.
He never loses interest.
You run, and His love follows quietly.
You ask, What kind of love is this?

It is overwhelming, faithful, impossible to walk away from. He loved you first. He understands you, listens to you, He arrives right on time, feels your heart, and always has your back.
The love of God isn’t defined by one moment, not even the cross. The cross opened the door, but His love is an inheritance, a legacy, a gift, an anchor in your soul. It carries His eternal name.

His love changes your face, your attitude, your perspective. It is unconditional… and it is the best thing you will ever experience.
What did you do to deserve it? Nothing.
What did He do? Everything.

God created love, expressed it, demonstrated it, showed love to humanity, completed it. For Him, love was never a simple act; it was the act that holds everything together, life, existence, and the world itself. He put strength in love, power, peace, boldness, confidence. The love of God is love that sees clearly, love that is aware, mature, and grounded in truth. It doesn’t blind; it strengthens. It doesn’t lose itself; it stands firm. It grows. 

The love of God is a weapon, a new horizon, a new identity, a new breath. It does not diminish or weaken; it gets stronger. It has no rival, no equal, no replacement. It governs.
God is love, and His identity is love.
He loves you personally and intentionally.
His love is immeasurable, sincere, and true.
Love is His voice, His presence, His grace, His blessing, His favor.

Look around_God is love.
And what you feel for Him is only a reflection of what He has always felt for you. Before you loved Him… He loved you first.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me with a love I can never fully understand but always feel. Thank You for Jesus, Your presence, Your patience, Your forgiveness, and Your strength. Let Your love continue to shape me, transform me, and anchor me. Teach me to love You sincerely, deeply, and faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I’ve been sitting with a single word lately, turning it over in my mind: Grace .  We use this word constantly. When we escape an accident, we call it Grace. When a door opens unexpectedly, we say, God’s Grace. We ask for it daily, almost like it’s the air we breathe.
